Halloween is just upon us, but that doesn’t mean we can’t keep our teeth healthy! Here are some helpful oral health tips for both you and your children to help minimize the negative effects of sweets during this candy-filled holiday:
Choose candy carefully
Avoid sticky and hard candies that stay stuck to teeth long after they are eaten. Candies that stay stuck to teeth promote tooth decay.
Drink plenty of water
Drinking water helps clean the teeth and gums and minimizes the build-up of bacteria. Make sure you and your kids drink plenty of water after eating candy.
Eat healthy snacks as well
Food is fuel and candy isn’t a good one! Make sure you fill your kids’ bellies with plenty of nutritious, wholesome food. Save the candy for dessert!
Consider non-candy treats
