What is an impacted tooth?
An impacted tooth is a tooth that hasn’t fully erupted (or emerged) into the mouth. The most common teeth to become impacted are the four wisdom teeth and the four canine teeth. An impacted tooth can grow at an angle toward an adjacent tooth, grow toward the back of the mouth, grow at a right angle, or stay trapped within the jawbone.
Why should impacted teeth be removed?
Your oral surgeon will recommend extracting an impacted tooth that is causing pain or other patient recognized problems.
